Starting a chapter
Step 1: Connect with Science Olympiad Headquarters
Visit the official Science Olympiad website for detailed registration info and official documents.
Step 2: Find a Coach or Sponsor
Teams need an adult coach — often a teacher, professor, or parent volunteer.
Coaches help manage schedules, coordinate event practices, and handle competition registration.
Step 3: Recruit Members
Teams typically have up to 15 students, though you can start with fewer.
Focus on variety - Science Olympiad covers everything from anatomy to robotics!
Step 4: Gather Resources
Explore Event Resources for study materials, past tests, and guides.
Use free sites like OpenStax, WolframAlpha, and Science Olympiad for practice.
Step 5: Connect with UF Science Olympiad
We’re happy to help new teams with guidance, sample materials, and event recommendations.
Email us at ufso.eboard@floridascienceolympiad.org to connect with an E-Board member for mentorship or resource sharing.
